Practice-driven teaching
At Cibap we work on the principle that learning only becomes truly appealing when it has a close relationship with the profession being learned. That is why you will find that everything you learn on the course is based on real-life, practical situations. And that is also why all our subject lecturers are professionals, with practical experience in their own fields and firm ties with the world of work. You will notice this from the assignments you are given, the working methods and the theoretical study material that can be put to immediate practical use. The lesson materials we provide are specially written and developed by our own lecturers every year, so they are always relevant and up-to-date. This is evident from their design. In addition, all our lesson materials are project-based; you will sometimes work in groups, sometimes on your own, but always with a specific end-product in mind. A vocational school the way it should be!
Entrepreneurship
In all our courses we encourage entrepreneurship. We do this by focusing attention on the entrepreneurial aspects of the careers we train you for, as in the Jong Ondernemen [Young Entrepreneurs] project. In this project you will spend several months working on a product for your own student enterprise. A jury consisting of lecturers and professionals from the field will assess both the student enterprise and the product, based on criteria such as presentation, finance, vision, strategy and contacts with the world of business.
Practical assignments
The lesson materials not only consist of assignments set by your lecturers; you will also be regularly asked to carry out real-life projects. You may be asked to provide the decor for a festive function, design posters for a festival, or provide an interior design consultation for an apartment, for example. These practical assignments help you gain practical experience of what goes on in your chosen profession – and that, after all, is what Cibap is training you for.
Internship
You will do internships at various stages during your training at Cibap; this is an important part of your course. During your internship you will discover what your chosen profession entails in real life and find out what talents and skills you have. We will work with you to find the internship that suits you best. This means that both you and the company for whom you will be working will be informed in advance about the work processes, the start and end of the internship, support during the internship, the method of assessment and so on.
