Furniture Designer/Maker
On the Furniture Designer/Maker course you will learn how to design, make (and sell) high-quality furniture with your own unique personality stamp. In the third year you can also specialise in fitting out ship interiors. This course not only covers the practical and creative sides of the trade; you will also learn about management, planning, work preparation and running your own business.
Property Maintenance (Middle Manager)
On the Property Maintenance (Middle Manager) course you will learn all the commercial aspects of the painting and decorating trade. Many property owners want to know what it will cost them to maintain their property properly: how often the window frames will need to be painted and what it will cost, how often the walls and ceilings will need to be touched up and what that will cost, and so on. There are many things you have to think about when you have to maintain a building. It is very useful for property owners to know what this will cost them in the future. The course will teach you what to look out for when maintaining a building and how to calculate the maintenance costs and create a maintenance schedule. After four years you will be awarded two diplomas: Entrepreneur and Costing/Maintenance Specialist.
Interior Decorator and Restorer
The Interior Decorator and Restorer course is mainly hands-on, with very little computer-based work. You will learn many different painting techniques for creating decorative murals or for restoring old buildings such as churches. So a knowledge of architecture and the history of art is important. You will also learn a lot about the use of colour, materials and structures. Another element of this course is working with glass and stained glass.
